A spa massage is generally about relaxation — a pleasant full-body routine. Therapeutic massage starts with a goal: reduce pain, restore range of motion, recover from training, undo the effects of desk work. The session is planned around that goal, the pressure and techniques are chosen to get results, and the focus goes where it is needed rather than evenly everywhere. It can absolutely still be relaxing.
Fit Massage KC is opening in the Shawnee / Lenexa / Overland Park area of Johnson County, Kansas. The exact location will be announced soon — join the list or reach out and you will be the first to know.
Plan to arrive a few minutes early. You can fill out the intake form ahead of time or when you arrive. Kirstin will talk with you about what is going on, your goals, and any health history that matters, then tailor the session. Afterward you may get a couple of simple suggestions for mobility or recovery.
Whatever you are comfortable in. For table work you will undress to your comfort level and be draped with a sheet at all times — only the area being worked on is uncovered. For stretching-heavy sports sessions, athletic shorts and a tank or sports bra work well.
It should not. Deep tissue means slow, sustained pressure on deeper layers of muscle, not pain for its own sake. Some spots may feel intense, and you are always in control — say the word and the pressure changes. Mild soreness for a day afterward is normal.
It depends on the goal. For an active issue, weekly or every two weeks for a few sessions gets the fastest results. For maintenance during training or a physically demanding job, every 2–4 weeks is typical. Kirstin will give you an honest recommendation after your first session.
